Product Description

"Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. ''Be very still,'' he whispered, as if I wasn''t already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat. " As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he''s a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward''s sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst. The precision and delicacy of Meyer''s writing lifts this wonderful novel beyond the limitations of the horror genre to a place among the best of YA fiction. (Ages 12 and up)

The book that started the phenomenon is now available in a deluxe collector's edition! Featuring a ribbon bookmark, cloth cover, ragged edges, new chapter opener designs, and a beautiful protective slipcase, this edition is perfect for fans and collectors alike.

Bella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear.

Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

5 star(s) (out of 5 stars) Good story but wirting could be better 2009-06-30

I enjoyed the story line of Twilight and how the author meshed vampire myths in a modern format. However, although the story telling was good, it did become hard to read at times because it is written in the first person...so it comes across as almost reading a diary or personal manuscript. So it leaves yo with questions about other characters perspectives, and it only focuses on how Bella perceived the world. I personally prefer a JK Rowling style of writing where you get to understand all of the main characters rather than just one.
Regardless, I am giving this book 5 stars because it is a well writen and interesting story. I don't feel it is fair to ding it simply because it is written in a different perspective than I prefer.

5 star(s) (out of 5 stars) amazing book(: true and new epic vampire love story. 2009-06-30

Twilight is a phenomenal book. Its one of those books that you don't want to put down because its just that good. Stephenie Meyer makes the characters real and come to life. Its not one of those books where all they do is talk about coffins and only comming out in the dark. Which all made it into an epic love story for not just teens/young adults but any age at all.

Bella is your typical 17 year old. She tends to be awkward as most teens are. She's ussually trying to stay up on her feet because of her uncordination in everyday life of trying not to trip over her own feet and so on. Her curiosity tends to get her into dangerous situations, which ends up falling in love with a vampire. While Edward, seventeen forever vampire wanted to kill Bella the first time he "smelled" her. He tried to avoid Bella but she kept comming back to him in some way. He's been alone all his ninty plus years that he's been on Earth and has never felt any way since he met Bella. Edward is always saving her whether its comming to car crashes, perverted men or Nomad vampire trackers. Which made Bella curious and both of there love possible for one another. They have so many facinations toward one-another.They've realized they can never be apart for a long period of time without feeling vulnerable.

I could read this book over and over again without it getting old. I love it.I've been lending it out to people everywhere and they all feel the same way.Its an amazing book and series. I reccommend that you buy it not only just for you but anyone who hasnt read it or heard about it. The movie was okay but the book is phenomenal! i think Meyer is even in the movie if you look closely. she's on her laptop and ordered something from the diner, very breifly though.kinda like alfred hitchcock movies.i wonder if she'll do that in the next movies... But like i said an epic love story you'll never forget.

5 star(s) (out of 5 stars) Beautifully unique love-story 2009-07-01

Twilight is a unique perspective on teenage romance. In no way is this a story about puppy love or "vampire love" (whatever). This is simply the story about two people who meet in life and find a very strong attraction to one another, almost a pull towards one another. The twist is that she is a relatively normal teenage girl and he happens to be a 100 year old vampire.

But since he is good and indeavors to stay that way he allows himself to fall in love with her. But how could he stop himself? She on the other had was a goner from the beginning.

Bella is the "Juliet" of this book and Edward is the "romeo". Bella is not a swoony, romantic, love starved teenage girl. So it seems ironic that she would be fated to be apart of the most impossible, heart-breakingly beautiful love stories. Edward on the other hand seems (to me at least) to have been waiting for Bella to come along. He was made for this relationship, though he is not aware or understands it. He has so much love in his heart for Bella and so much control over the part of him that wants her blood.

You almost forget that this book is about vampires or at least you don't care.
